What began as a solemn morning of remembrance for many Muslim families marking Eid turned into a moment of shock and distress in West Midlands town in England, where racist graffiti was discovered near a cemetery frequented by the community.

On Friday (March 20), visitors arriving at Streetly Cemetery, located along the border of Walsall and Sutton Coldfield, found the word “Islam” along with a racist slogan scrawled in white paint across the grass in front of several gravestones.

The graffiti was reported to local authorities, who arrived and removed it. However, images of the incident quickly spread across social media.
