  • Uploaded files: photos, videos, screenshots, documents, PDFs (may contain personal data)
  • Any other information you choose to include

C. Information from Public Sources

• We may collect and publish publicly available information about reported Islamophobia incidents from news articles, social media, government reports, court documents, and other open sources. We do not scrape private accounts or closed groups.

Sensitive Personal Data We may receive (and in limited cases process) special category data under GDPR/Article 9 (e.g. religious beliefs, ethnic origin, health data related to hate crimes, political opinions, criminal allegations). We process such data only when strictly necessary for our legitimate mission of documenting and countering anti-Muslim hatred and when permitted by law (e.g., substantial public interest, explicit consent, or manifestly made public by the data subject).2. How We Use Your InformationWe use information to:

• Receive, assess, verify (where possible), document, categorize, and publish reports of Islamophobia incidents
• Produce aggregated statistics, timelines, maps, reports, and research
• Respond to your inquiries or follow-up requests
• Send optional newsletters or alerts (you can unsubscribe anytime)
• Improve the Site and prevent abuse/security incidents
• Defend ourselves in legal proceedings or protect vital interests
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your data for commercial advertising, profiling for marketing, or selling to third parties.3. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR-relevant users)

Published incident reports on the Site are carefully redacted to remove or pseudonymize personal identifiers of victims, witnesses, and reporters unless you explicitly consent otherwise.5. Data Retention

• Incident reports and supporting materials: retained as long as they have legitimate archival, research, or accountability value (often indefinitely for historical human rights documentation), unless you request deletion and we determine there is no overriding public interest.
• Newsletter/email lists: kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
• Website logs/analytics: usually 12–26 months.
• We delete or anonymize data sooner when it is no longer needed.
