A mosque in the Netherlands was severely damaged in a nighttime vandalism attack, raising concerns about an increase in incidents targeting religious sites.

According to the Islamic Foundation Netherlands, individuals entered the Sultan Ahmet Mosque in Zaandam on April 4 and caused significant damage, particularly to an educational center that was under construction.

The foundation described the attack as part of a broader pattern, noting that mosques have previously been targeted with threatening letters, graffiti, and acts of violence—contributing to growing fear and insecurity within the Muslim community.

The organization said the incident has been reported to police and called on authorities to take immediate action to ensure the safety of places of worship.
